Year 7 Rugby

Southam Roar at Rugby Lions. ( or is it Joe Tidy’s up?!)

With a game against Coundon Court on Wednesday a large squad was taken to Lions for a tournament. Several schools took large squads which meant we split into 2 teams in a ’10’s tournament. The emphasis was on performance not winning and looking at new players. In total 6 new caps for the school were gained – well done to Jack M, Ausin O, Jay Ws, Freddie C, Noah M and Blake Cr. Of these Jack M made a big impression on the wing and has forced his way into the starting team with his pace, movement and tackling. Best of luck on Wednesday Jack! Southam Won 25-0, 5 – 0, 15 – 0, 15 -5 and I believe a draw 5-5 in strange shortened 7 aside version at the end. I thought it was a loss but remembered a great finish from Joe earlier. We will take 4 wins out of 5 though with plenty of lads getting on the pitch.

Try scorers were Charlie St, Hayden W, Joe C, Harry L. Hayden W needs to be noted for his hard running efforts as does Tommy B in the last game. On the back of this we are hoping to have an A and a B team game vs Ashlawn later in the season. If anybody knows of a club that could host with floodlights please ley me know.
Champaign moment was not a try but a quality bit of helping to tidy up from Joe C who always gives 100% as he did with his tackling and running at the tournament. He ran around collecting up cones that were try lines and side lines. It is a shame the game was still going on! Quality Joe! but what a smiling character. Apologise we were 10 minutes late parents – but as the photo shows – you need to feed your kids more!
Special note – we wish Lewis S a quick recovery from an injury at the weekend. Get back quick fella #inittogether #oneforall.
