Year 7 Football

Wednesday evening saw the Year 7 football team play the first match of the new half term away to Kenilworth.
The boys started well and could have taken the lead early but a well struck Noah shot was blocked in the 6 yard box. From that point Southam has to defend for the majority of the first half with Kenilworth continually attacking. Kenilworth forced Joe into a number of vital saves as well as striking the woodwork 4 times. Southam managed to get in at half time 0-0.
Southam played much better football in the 2nd half but unfortunately found themselves 1-0 down after a swift counter attack was neatly finished. Southam kept trying to play passing football and were unfortunate not to equalise through Leo. Kenilworth scored twice more to make the final score 3-0. Southam were unlucky to concede 3 in the half that was much more evenly balanced. Man of the match goes to Joe for a tremendous performance in goal with a number of very good saves!
Next week we have a tournament and a fixture against Princethorpe to look forward to.
Attendance at training on Monday is vital! See you there!
