On a pleasant Wednesday afternoon the year 7s took part in their annual area tournament. Southam College took 2 teams along to compete giving more girls the opportunity to represent the school.
The girls started strong with an initial 7-0 win over NLS with some outstanding defending from Alice C and Chloe H and equally some brilliant shooting from Amelia B. Second game saw the girls take on Campion, the game saw some brilliant feeds and turn over ball in the centre third from Sophie H and Chloe S allowing Campion to struggle to get the ball down resulting in a 6-2 win. By the third game the girls were truly warmed up and they played their best netball against Kingsley, Scarlett S was able to feed the ball from anywhere into the shooters Abby T and Amelia B and they didn’t seem to miss, seeing the score 13-1 to Southam.
The most difficult game saw Southam face Kings High – a very strong team. The girls seemed to lack confidence in the first half fearing their opposition but strong performances from Chloe H and Alice C in defence saw the ball get turned over and the final score was 5-4 to Kings High. The final two games saw Southam fight the light as the evening went on but they still managed a 7-2 win over Kenilworth due to some brilliant intercepts from Toula T and Evie C allowing the ball to get down to the Southam end. The final game was a very hard to see but Amelia still managed to pop 3 goals through to see Southam beat Aylesford 3-0.
A fantastic evening of netball, it is lovely to see how much you have developed as individuals and as a team. Well done girls,
Mrs Turton
