Year 7 & 8 performed brilliantly in the CWS football tournament starting the day in emphatic style as Southam went unbeaten in their qualifying group. M.Norton in particular showed really quality scoring 6 goals in the process.
After lunch the girls had the much harder tasks of playing the other group stage winners, rising to the occasion by beating Etone College 1-0 and Tutor Grange 7-0. Unfortunately a tightly contested 1-0 loss to Ashlawn (who went onto be the tournaments overall champions) meant that the girls narrowly missed out on the final and would instead play for the Bronze medal match against Aylesford.
The girls gave it everything they had but sadly lost 2-0 to Aylesford finishing 4th overall in a tournament for the best schools in Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.
Well done to E.Luo, H.Freimanis, E.Constable, M.Norton, J.Popa and A.Griffiths-Standage for a great day of football!
