On a very wet Saturday afternoon, 2 of Southam College’s Cross Country teams competed at Morten Morrell for the Regional round of the ESAA cross country cup.
The junior boys (7/8) started the day off with some competitive running. Dom finishing the best of the Southam boys in a fantastic 8th place. Oliver and Tobias came in close succession in 17th and 19th respectively. Final two Jasper and Logan came in 52nd and 54th.
The intermediate girls ran in the penultimate race of the day – seeing the conditions worsen after each race. However this did not stop the girls from digging in deep and performing well. Madeleine ran a fantastic race finishing in 3rd behind the winner who finished 4th at English Schools Cross Country Championships last year. Elspeth finished in a fast 6th place securing the second of the teams points. Poppy had the race of her life finishing just outside the top 15 in 16th place. Marie made up the last of the scoring points finishing in 30th position after completing a great run especially as it was her first of the season.
The junior boys finished in a very respectable 6th place and the intermediate girls finished in a fantastic 2nd place – securing their place in the National finals on 7th December in Derbyshire.
We wish the girls the best of luck for the event!
Well done,
Mrs Turton, Mr MacGibbon and Miss Maclachlan
