Year 10 Rugby

The year 10 rugby team travelled to King Edwards Birmingham for their first fixture in over 2 years on Saturday morning.

The team started brightly and were soon 5-0 up after some very good discipline from the forwards in particular Hayden allowed Josh to score. Some fantastic tackling and rucking built platforms for the backs to play. Ephraim powered through into contact allowing Josh to pick up and dance through with a double side step to make it 12-0 after the conversion from Charlie. Will got in on the scoring after further strong forward play and strong running from Charlie F. 19-0 after another conversion. The final score of the first half went to Josh who completed his hat trick diving over in the corner. 24-0 at half time.

There was some fantastic play from George at the base of a ruck to secure the ball and play a great pass to Tom who held off 3 defenders to score. Tom then converted his own try.

Austin showed great determination and drive to steal the ball before popping to Charlie to give to James to finish tidily in the corner. Josh then scored his 4th of the morning after great work from Ollie allowed him space to dive into the corner again. The final score of the game came from the backs after some lovely passing allowed Charlie S to stretch his legs and touch down under the posts before Ally converted.

Final score 48-0 to Southam.

A fantastic morning of Rugby at some lovely facilities. The team were clinical in possession and dominant in defence. There were a number of great performances but today’s man of the match goes to Cade who stepped in to play out of position and commanded the game from Fly Half. Not a bad way to make your debut for the team!

Well done to all involved and thanks to the parents who travelled across to watch.
