Year 10 Netballers battle against some of the toughest schools in the county.
The year 10 netball team this evening went along to Kings High for the U15 county tournament. This is the first time the year 10 students have been involved in the county tournament so they didn’t know what to expect.
The girls started their evening with a fantastic win against Stratford, which saw some accurate shooting by Abby and tight defensive play by both Scarlet and Chloe in the circle.
The second game was against Princethorpe, which saw a narrow defeat by 2 goals, but solid performances by Sophie and Chloe to turn the ball over allowing Southam to stay at a 2 goal deficit.
Next up was Higham Lane, a new team they’d never come up against. The Southam girls managed to stretch out a good lead with great shooting from Holly and Abby. The Higham Lane girls managed to come back in the second half but great defensive pressure from Scarlett and Sophie meant they were able to stop the ball getting into the circle.
The next game saw the Southam girls face AGS, who had previously beaten this team in the final at Condover hall tournament in October. The girls battles hard and Scarlet had an extremely strong game at GD managing to break the play down in the circle. Unfortunutly, it was not meant to be this time but a great battle throughout.
The final match saw the team take on the favourites Kings High. Kings High had beaten all other teams to this point. The girls battled til the end but the very well drilled team managed to stretch out a lead over the Southam squad.
Well done girls, a well deserved 4th place overall.
You should all be really proud of yourselves with your performances this evening. You supported each other well and worked fantastic as a team. You were a delight to watch.
