Saturday morning started with a trip to the sky on the high ropes. Every player (and coach) took to the obstacle course in the sky for some team building fun.
The serious time happened after lunch, when the netball began. Southam2 flew out of the blocks being led by their captain Freya who barely missed a shot on goal. Katie and Minnie took interception after interception allowing the girls to secure their first win against Ladyhawks3 20-5. The girls were feeling positive going into the second game and started strong with some really positive passages of play seeing Jemma and Issy blocking their players out of the circle, however Concord mana he d to sneak ahead with a turnover in the second half giving them a 10-7 win.
The third game saw them face Northwich Comets, this was one of the best games the girls have every played. Phoebe was making drives down the court, whilst Libby was feeding the circle to pin point accuracy. Every player played out of their skin but a last min goal for Comets saw them sneak 8-7 win. The game of the day was next which was the Southam face off.
The final game of the day was physical battle against ladyhawks 4. It wasn’t to be this time and the girls finished the day in 7th position.
On Sunday, the girls had recharged their batteries and were ready to play. A nice early victory against Hereford 16-5 thanks to amazing movement from Ella. The second match they faced an extremely strong Shottery Panthers, and this was the best the girls have ever played. Every player worked hard for each other, stuck to their players the whole way down court and offered something a little extra. Unfortunately, it was a loss in the end but only 14-8 (the same result as the Southam1 team against them). A few more mixed results rounded up the afternoon seeing the girls finish up in a solid 7th position.
We were both so impressed with the effort and improvement you all showed at this tournament. You have all improved drastically as individuals but also learnt to really come together as a team. Well done girls we were really proud of you.
