Year 11 played their first fixture of the academic year against St Tomas Moore in Round 2 of the ESFA National cup.

In a changed kit of sky blue (kindly donated to the PE department by Bishops Itchington FC) Southam started brightly and almost scored with their first attack with Josh clipping the angle of the cross bar after a neat flick on from Spike. Southam continued to press and had lots of possession. Oli and Archie were both very unlucky with 2 fantastic strikes but the deadlock was broken by Josh who poked home after a scramble. The score should have been doubled had it not been for a triple save and 2 goal line clearances. Harry scored a fantastic individual goal, turning past the defender before unleashing a shot into the bottom corner. He then added to his tally after heading a free kick in. Half time 3-0.

Southam continued to press and soon scored a fourth after a lovely headed flick was calmly volleyed home by Harry for his hat trick. From this point, Southam were in complete control and played some fantastic football. The icing on the cake was a lovely cross from Leo that was headed in by Fred for his first ever Southam College goal in his 5th year of playing. The whole team deserves credit for their professional approach to the game and keeping a clean sheet.

Full time score 5-0.

I am so proud of the team, this is the most complete performance I have seen from the boys in the 4 and a bit years of coaching them. I look forward to seeing what they can achieve this season.

Man of the match- Harry. A tremendous hat trick.

Roll on round 3.

Mr Turton.
