Saturday morning saw the Year 11 rugby team travel to Lutterworth rugby club to play Lutterworth High school.
A fiercely competitive battle ensued with both teams trying to break through the defensive line. The first try of the game from Will crashing over the line in the corner. Tom converted to give us a 7-0 lead. A second try of the game followed after tremendous forward play allowed Tom to pick the ball and dart through from distance and give us a 12-0 lead. Lutterworth pulled a try back before half time. Half time 12-5.
A few changes at half time due to injuries didn’t change the pattern of the game with both teams countering against each other. After a passage of good forward play, Joe touched down over the line to extend the lead to 17-5. Some errors with handling allowed Lutterworth back into the game and Southam conceded 3 quick tries in the final 10 minutes allowing Lutterworth to take the win 26-17.
There were some real positives to take from the game with some brilliant work in the forwards. A special mention to Ioan, Jack and Cass for stepping up and playing brilliantly.
Also, a big thank you to parents for coming to watch.
Well done and roll on the fixture next week.
