YEAR 11 FOOTBALL

Monday evening saw the year 11 football team travel to a bitterly cold Kenilworth. With a bare 11,  the team started slowly and gifted Kenilworth an early lead through a free header. This sparked Southam into life and they soon started creating chances with Archie and Harry both striking the post before Ollie fired wide and Charlie S tried his luck from distance. The team did get their reward when good pressing from Charlie F allowed Archie to cross for Harry to poke home. Half time score 1-1.

The second half started in the same vein with some good chances being created. Kenilworth hit Southam on the break and took a 2-1 lead. Southam responded well again and the hard working Ronan and Noah combined with Jasper to play a great through ball to Oli who struck a fierce shot into the top corner. Southam continued to press with Harry, Maxton and Josh all seeing their attempts well saved! Unfortunately, Kenilworth again caught Southam on the counter and a well struck shot from distance nestled into the bottom corner to give Kenilworth a 3-2 lead with 5 to play. Despite their best efforts, Southam couldn’t find their 3rd equaliser of the night.

A tough result to take despite being the better team. I can’t fault the effort of the 11 lads. Well done on a great performance.

Thank you to the parents that braved the cold to come and watch!
